There are several sites were  you can find fossils. I found a 200,000 year old periwinkle verified by a University of Idaho professor. The  nationally famous garnet digs are close by. This is the only place in the world where a six star garnet can be  found. And... you dig it yourself for only a $4.00 Forest Service fee! Food and gas are available.
