Pierce = GOLD. Gold was first discovered here in the 1860’s and was
responsible for populating this region. With a population of 750 it has
complete visitor services. Located in one of the largest forests in the
lower 48 states, lumber is it’s main industry. Pierce is a good place to
stop and stretch and stock up before heading on down into the North Fork
of the Clearwater River. There you can find great whitewater, camping and
a world famous fly fishing area, Kelly Forks.
