Riggins is nested in the Salmon River Canyon,
the "River of No Return". It is so deep, much of the bitter
Northwest weather just blows right over, making this a very mild
climate. You can pick the fruit off the tree and drive to the top of the
canyon and build a snowman.
When the sawmill burned down, Riggins switched
to tourism and has been one of the most successful in the region to do
so. Many outfitters and guides are located here from whitewater rafting
& jet boating to hunting. There is much to explore within the region
from l the largest cave in the Pacific Northwest (Only open to
professionals) to the largest walnut tree in the Northwest. Full visitor
services are available.
