NWSPA January, 2001

The NWSPA met at Aaron Frizzell's house.  After greeting the members and their guests, the meeting commenced.

Chapter renewal is upon us.  Geri reported that our bank account has in excess of $500.  Chapter renewal fees of $25 plus the $250.00 first site insurance dues will be paid from these funds.  All attendees unanimously approved the spending of these funds to ensure another year of free flight from 10 Mile Hill.

The club members discussed the apparent closure of the landing zone at the "C" by the Port of Lewiston.  To date, no NWSPA members have made contact with the Port of Lewiston to verify the closure.  The members speculated regarding the possible reasons for the closure.  The topic of using some funds to secure a second site insurance policy on the "C" and the Port of Lewiston land at the LZ.  Greg Smith volunteered to contact the Port of Lewiston.  Aaron Frizzell volunteered to send some research materials to Greg to prepare and educate him using USHGA materials available on the USHGA website.

The NWSPA would like to welcome it's newest member, Dennis Meyers.  After chatting with Dennis on Saturday, he showed his support for sport aviation by joining our association after talking with Tom.  Welcome, Dennis.

Here is the transcript of Tom's discussion with Dick, the land owner of 10 Mile:

"Called Dick last night and everything is a go. He has not had anymore complaints from Vince's neighbor. He thinks the guy just wanted to be heard, but also thinks we should contact him with any plans so he wont feel left out. Maybe you can offer him our liability insurance for  the LZ. Not that we will land there but have the peace of mind if shit happens he will be covered. Will it cost any extra? We need to know for when Geri and Larry gets the money. Have you been able to contact any other club members. It would be nice to make our clubs renewal funds deposit the same time we pay..."

The 23rd Annual NWSPA Easter Fly-in will be held on the Asotin Hill from April 13-15th.  I am going to send an email notification to the various HG/PG aviation lists announcing this year's event soon.  If anybody has suggestions on how to make this year's event special, please feel free to voice your opinions.  I will ask Dave Lundquist, an accomplished and relatively famous artist, to design this year's T-shirts (Editor's Note:  As of March 15th, I have still not been able to contact Dave regarding the T-shirt design). I need to contact Art Beat for a quote for this years T-shirts.  Two years ago, the T's were $16.  Various sizes will again be available this year.  To date, I have commitments for the following members:
